Current positions available at Kent Gardening & Tree Surgery:
Gardener / Horticulturalist / Tree grounds person
Role and responsibilities:
A flexible position working 24 - 40 hours per week of 8 hour days, Monday to Friday (No Weekend Working) alongside existing team members.
You will be doing varied work from domestic gardening to commercial grounds care with the addition of being a ground based member of the tree surgery team when required.
From our base near Cranbrook, Kent we provide services across the county.
Within this area we look after small to large domestic gardens, pub gardens, commercial premises and everything in between.
Day to day tasks will initially include pruning, weeding, digging, strimming, mowing, raking and clearing up.
We also offer a comprehensive tree surgery service including pruning and removals. Forming part of the team you will be initially tasked with processing brash and log wood from the tree to the waiting chipper and vehicle and raking up arisings as required.
Additional tasks such as hedge cutting, herbicide application, using a chainsaw or wood chipper will be made available to you depending on your skills and qualifications.
Our ideal candidate:
Applicants should be physically able to do the tasks and will be expected to work in all weathers throughout the year.
A strong horticultural background with excellent plant knowledge would excel you to the front of the crowd.
It would be desirable for applicants to have a recognised qualification in horticulture / gardening i.e. First Diploma, National Certificate, National Diploma, NVQ, City & Guilds or RHS Diploma.
Additional qualifications such as pesticide spraying certifications and chainsaw related qualifications would be beneficial but not essential.
Training will be provided to further your skills where necessary and this will be subject to a contractual training agreement.
A clean full UK driving license is essential.
All work clothing, uniform, boots and protective equipment will be provided for you.
Successful applicants will be asked to do a paid trial day of work as part of the final selection process. The initial contract will be for a trial period of 3 months and all being well an extension to 12 months thereafter.

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications – ranging from £10.00 to £13.00 per hour (equivalent range £20,800.00 to £27,040.00 - based on 40 hour weeks).
